Merry Christmas
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas this year. As I made my way through the malls and shopping centers I heard an old phrase I had not heard in years “Merry Christmas”.
It seems as though the political correctness of saying Merry Christmas was lifted this year. People have embraced the feeling and what it means to have a Merry Christmas.
Biker Claus at Wynnefield Hunt
On Sunday 12/19/10 Wynnefield Hunt had a visit from Biker Claus.
This was the first year the neighborhood children had a chance to get there photos taken with Santa’s helper “Biker Claus”.
Since this was the first year and somewhat of a last minute planned event we didn’t have a big turn out. In years to come there will be more advanced notice and more organization for this annual event.
Two things that have always remained the same since doing this since 2000. There’s always one child that completely loves Santa and one that is scared. All the children were so great today. When a child takes the time to make a list to give to Santa it’s the greatest feeling in the world.
Christmas is back in Philadelphia!
I think it’s great that Mayor Nutter put his foot down on the subject.
Political correctness has gone out of control for too long.
Thank you Mayor Nutter.
The word “Christmas” went back up on the two signs outside of City Hall on Dilworth Plaza on Thursday morning, welcoming visitors to a small collection of shops called “Christmas Village.”
The mayor told reporters Tuesday, “I am pleased to let you know that Christmas Village is back. The sign will be back.”
On Monday, after hearing of complaints from citizens and city workers about religious diversity and inclusiveness, organizers of the German-inspired merchant fair decided to take down the word Christmas on the large signs outside City Hall – only to have the mayor reverse that decision on Wednesday.
To read the full story “Christmas” returns to Philly’s Christmas Village.
Christmas Season
I hope everyone is holding up during the Christmas season, long lines, traffic, rude people etc.
If you feel stressed out while shopping just remember why you’re there in the first place. You’re there for family and friends and the joy they’re going to get when they open your present. What’s a couple extra minutes finding a parking space, standing in line or dealing with stressed out people?
Happy Thanksgiving
How to be a Biker Claus
I would like to start by saying the best thing about being a Biker Claus is family, friends and the community. Without those it’s just dressing up and riding.
Helpful hints to all you Santa’s on motorcycles.
- You don’t have to spend a lot of money on the suit. There really isn’t an average cost but you can find a descent Santa suit for around $40.00 – $100.00. You can obviously spend a lot more but lets keep it real.
- I would highly suggest ditching the red Santa velvet pants. You don’t want to me sliding all over your seat when you’re trying to ride. Leather chaps and jeans are warmer and they won’t burn on your pipes.
- If your motorcycle does not have a front fairing I would suggest tying the beard with some ribbon or something. Otherwise you’re going to have a face full of white beard and zero visibility.
- Although Santa wears a hat, do your self a favor and put a helmet under yours. Riding around in public in a Santa suit can make people do some very unexpected things.
- Have some fun and decorate your motorcycle.
- If you happen to stop and get off your motorcycle don’t be surprised by the little people you attract. Make sure they are greeted with a hearty HO! HO! HO! Merry Christmas.
- You can’t do this alone. The more the merrier is all I have to say.
- Have fun and put a smile on everyone’s face you see.
- This little girl had her mother chase us down for 2 miles so she could give her wish list to Santa.
- Add some bells, ribbon or Presents
- Rudolphs Motorcycle
- 2005 our first time out.
- Rudolph, Mrs. Biker Claus, Biker Claus
- Biker Claus and Blocker the bad elf
- Line up the bikes
- Biker Claus and the Reindeer
- Merry Christmas
Bell ringers needed
CHRISTMAS BELLS -
ADOPT A KETTLE PROGRAM
The Salvation Army is looking for companies, churches, school groups and civic groups to volunteer a day or more to ring bells at the traditional red kettle. A few hours of bell ringing at a Salvation Army kettle will help keep a family warm this winter and assist a family during the holidays as well as throughout the new year.
In New Castle County, the Kettle Drive begins on November 13th and runs daily through December 24th (except Thanksgiving and Sundays). Please call John Yunker at (302)-472-0728, or email john.yunker@use.salvationarmy.org
For Sussex County Bellringing Volunteer Opportunities please contact Envoy Chas Engel at 302-628-2020.
